All you need to do is create a video profiling an occupation that interests you. The myfuture Video Competition is open for entries from young people aged 12-25. The winner will receive a cash prize of $7500 and also have a chance to win another $5000 in the myfuture Viewers Choice Award. The aim of the competition is to assist young people to explore career ideas by producing a 2-3 minute video on an occupation that interests them. Scholarship Opportunities - Hospitality and Events 'Get Real: Events Experience' is a program for year 11 students interested in hospitality and event management. 15 applicants are chosen for a week of work experience with one of Kenvale's industry partners such as The Sofitel Hotel or ACER Arena. Based on their application and their performance, two of those students will then receive a scholarship to study hospitality & events at Kenvale College after their HSC. For more information, visit www.science.unsw.edu.au CONSTRUCTION OHS CERTIFICATE Green Card Anyone wishing to work on a building site will have to present an OHS Certificate. This covers all careers from trades such as carpentry and bricklaying to architects, engineers etc. The normal cost to this is $100 to $120. The school will be running this course on Thursday 26th August for $40. Names have to be submitted to the department three weeks prior to the course which means by this Wednesday 4th August. There are a few places left. Interested students will need to see Mr. Pinkey in Room 24 as soon as possible to register. RSA & RCG In order to work in the Hotel Industry you must have a RSA & RCG Certificate. A number of Year 12 students want to get these qualifications because they wish to work in the hospitality industry but in most cases students want the qualification so that they can work part-time while studying at university, TAFE or with a Private Provider. These courses can cost between $90 - $120 each. The school has organised for the two courses to be run at school on the last two Wednesdays of this term for just $100 but there must be 30 students wishing to attend. Students MUST register their intent and pay by Friday 13th August. The first 30 students to register will be guaranteed a place the remainder will be put on a reserve list and will be offered a position on the day if any student is absent on the day. You do not have to be eighteen years of age to do the course but you must be 18 to work in the industry. Money must be paid to the front office. NOTE: The course will not run if there are less than 30 students since the low cost has been negotiated based on this number of participants.
